Design Days 2012

During 4 days the city of Renens in Switzerland has held an exhibition of design and contemporary art called Design Days. I decided to pop in yesterday instead of watching the rain falling through the window. Between furniture, light, industrial design, accessories and new materials there were some pieces that appealed to me more than others. Here they are.

Fast, by Francis Chabloz, is a system to have folding table and chairs, depending on how many people you have at home without the need to set foot in the metal plate with screws. Space-saving and easy to use but also original and nice.

The DIY table Koota created by Marc Haldemann can be easily produced at low costs. All parts of “Koota” are cut out of a 18mm oak plate. All cut parts that are used to keep the table together are made of same shape allowing to set up the machine for production just once. A functional and cheap piece of furniture that still got character.

Noyn is a multi-use structure created by 2 swiss architects. A pavilion built with an ingenious counterbalance system that allows the tent to be opened with a single hand gesture.
